High Five with Raul Ruiz

Raul Ruiz comes through with a solid minute of trickery right down the street from our office at the Lincoln Skatepark.

Last Friday we found ourselves ending the day early and heading up to the mountains to watch Ziggy Marley play an acoustic concert. It was pretty rad to be in the middle of downtown LA and then within 30 minutes being in the middle of woods listening to some reggae, eating free bbq, and drinking ice cold beer, not a bad way to start the weekend.
My good friend Wes McGrath just dropped a pretty awesome set of photos up on BMX Union. These were some of my favorites from the gallery, but defiantly view the rest here.
A few years back I was fortunate enought to meet Ian Ruhter while working on a different project in Venice, at the time Ian was one of the top snowboard photographers out there. Ian is very talented at his craft, over the past few years we lost touch. A few weekends ago I was looking through the LA Times and came across this story on Ian and his new project: “Silver and Light” a project to tell the stories of people across America through mediums including wet plate photography.
Ian grew bored with the digital age and reverted back to using what is called the collodion process or wetplate photography. Instead of using a standard camera and method he has purchased an old delivery truck and turned it into a pinhole camera allowing him to create large format prints anywhere, basically creating a large camera on wheels.
Ian Ruhter has made his mark in the history of photography and he will continue this impression for many years to come. Below are examples of Ian’s work.

Thanks to Colby Larson, we officially have a Wolfman sighting. It’s always good to see members of the Quintin Family doing there thing.
I’ve got a good friend out in Poland who was actually the very first person I ever met at an apparel tradeshow, back in….. 2007, I believe. I excitedly told him about the line we were selling at the time, and he excitedly told me about various art projects he had been working on.
Throughout the years, we’ve kept in contact, while he grew his art career and his apparel brand, Turbokolor. Anyways, he’s done so much amazing art (both personal and commercial), I thought I would share some of it with you here:
The homie Swanski crushes it – see his whole portfolio here.
